Is Anyone out there as geeky as me?
  Started at Wed May 5 10:38:25 2004
So I don't know if anyone else watches FRIENDS like I do, but I'm looking for some moral support and wondering if anyones else is as sad as I am that tomorrow is the last FRIENDS episode. I just want to know if anyone has any predictions as to what will happen...DUN, DUN, DUN!!

Thanks for the support--as you may be able to tell the friends on FRIENDS may be the only friends I have *sniff, sniff*

I haven't watched an episode of friends in about, oh, six years, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Monica will clean something and Ross and Rachel will either fight or kiss, one of the two.

But then I could be wrong. happy

Well,

I also haven't watched it very much lately. But I will be TiVo-ing the last episode because I have a strange obsession with last episodes. My money is on Ross and Rachel hooking up, Chandler and Monica getting a baby and Phoebe and Joey just sticking around for their new spin-off show.

-Joel

P.S. I even watched the last episode of Newhart the other day, I've never even watched an episode of it.

I have seen a grand total of zero episodes of friends in my life but I am also a fan of last shows. Here are my top five -

Seinfield - I am one of only seven people in the world who liked the last episode. I am glad they didn't end the "show about nothing" with some big event/wedding

A-team - Damn that Murdock was funny

Small Wonder - when it was revealed that the little girl Vicky wasn't really a robot but rather an alien who is married to Alf, good times

Benson - Damn that Benson was funny

Night Court - Damn that Bull guy was funny

Okay, so I don't have five. I can't even remember any big last shows. But good luck with Friends tonight. I hope John and Alison hook up.

Wow, I opened this topic to try and make myself feel better and it totally didn't work. So, I'm the only loser out there who will be crying tonight as Ross and Rachel say their goodbyes either to each other or to the other friends?...

Although...the more I think about it...I sort of don't understand how you can have never seen even one episode of a highly talked about television show that's been on the air for ten years and lives on in sindication? I would think that you'd acidentally stumble on it one day or give into the curiosity of what it's all about...but then again, maybe I'm alone in this sentiment too...

alone in cedar city and soon to be missing my friends,

There is one reason why I have never seen a Friends episode. Friends reruns come on at 10:00, Simpsons comes on at 10:00. As geeky as you think you might be about Friends, I am at least a hundred times more geeky about the Simpsons. Did you know that Fat Tonys real name is Marion and that Ruth Powers can be seen in every crowd shot? I do. I have a serious problem. Lets hope the show never ends so I won't have to take my own life.

I had this problem once. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was my favorite show. I don't think that I ever missed an episode. Damn, that evil shredder never gave up! I never thought that a quality show like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would ever go off the air. But they do! Someone decided to pull my precious Ninja Turtles off of the air. AND I DON'T GET THE SATISFACTION OF RERUNS!!!!! And don't try to comfort me by telling me they have made a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. IT SUCKS!!!! So I have distanced myself from the Television so as not to be hurt again.

Don't worry Wendy! I'm as geeky as you, if that's what you call people who are seriously addicted to a particular hilarious sitcom and adore the characters and wish they were real. (I would actually call that more "disturbed" than "geeky".)

I haven't watched it as much in the past few years. I used to watch it a lot in high school because I had no friends of my own ("sad" and "pathetic" now comes to mind) and because I had this huge crush on Chandler. I even have a book about the show. I don't watch it religiously anymore, but I most definitely will watch it tonight and feel pangs of sadness.

And to amend your snide comment, Linden, I'm sure Monica will clean something hilariously and Ross and Rachel will either kiss or fight in some sort of hilarious manner.

Wow, Lisa, thank you so much. I have a trivia game, and we (my boyfriend who watched it with me out of cute loyalty) read questions to each other during the commercial breaks yesturday. I guess that's pretty geeky...but what did you think of the finale episode?

I loved it! and yes, I did cry...I think I have problems. I thought it ended everything so well and I loved that it felt like another episode and not a big finale clipshow episode. It was nice.

Oh, and Brian, don't be ashamed of your love for the Simpsons....it's a beautiful thing.

While I am a fan of Friends, I deffinately felt they "jumped the shark" when Rachael got pregnant. I still cannot believe the audience was cheering and applauding when she found out she was going to have a baby and didn't even know who the father was.
Check this out for sad, though. I had a rehearsal on thursday night, and my attempt to Tivo the show was ruined by the fact that I only got the first hour! Now I will live in suspense for the rest of eternity...alas! That's the sort of zaniness that makes great sitcoms.

What did I think of the final episode? Meh. I didn't think it was outstanding but I did laugh. (I loved Phoebe's Jack Bing comment and the fact that Joey didn't know the apartment was purple.) I did NOT like the fact that Rachel got off the plane. I mean, of course I wanted Ross and Rachel to be together, as any loyal Friends fan would, but why should Rachel have to give up an awesome job with Louis Vuitton and a chance to live in Paris? I wanted Ross to move to Paris with her! And I wish I could have seen Monica and Chandler's new house so I could pathetically feel comfortable that the characters were going to go on living after the show is over. At least in my mind.

Oh, and I teared up as well.

By the way, Wendy, what is your favorite episode? I'd have to say the one with the blackout or the one where Rachel and Monica lose their apartment.

My favorite episode has got to be the one where the girls loose their apartment or the one where no one's ready. I think there are some awesome one-liners in both of those episodes like:

"Hi, I'm Chandler, could I BE wearing anymore clothes?"

"No, I'm sorry, the T.V. guide goes to Chanandaler Bong."
"Actually, it's Miss Chanandaler Bong"

The Blackout episode is great too, especially when Ross get's attacked by the cat...oh, so funny. I agree with you on the Ross going to Paris. I totally wanted him to say that he would go with her after she came back to the apartment or for him to go to her apartment in Paris and say that he knew they were meant to be together and he's willing to stay in Paris as long as she wanted him too. Oh, that would have made me cry harder.

Okay, Lisa, who's your favorite friend and who would you marry?
Chandler on both for me--he's just so funny and it doesn't get better than that.

Nobody watches "Arrested Development" either. And rumor has it that the episode that aired two weeks ago was the series finale. Why? WHY! Can't people grasp the brilliant comedy of Jeffery Tambour or David Cross? Smile at the charm given off by Jason Bateman or Portia De Rossi? I feel you're pain, Wendy, really. I do. And even though I'm not a fan, I have seen one episode of friends (something to do with football).

Sooner or later, we all got back to zero.

Just between you and me,

The only part that I got semi-emotional about was when they had to destory the foosball table. That thing was such a part of their lives!!

But I knew that Rachel didn't get on the plane. As soon as Ross started the message I knew that she would be there!

-Joel

P.S. The clip show was pretty funny, too.

I love arrested development so much. Especially when the brother gets so mad about not getting a real job and having to just deliver a letter instead to prove his responsibility, so he tries to throw the letter into the sea.

For the record, I agree with Jen on the shark-jumpyness of Rachel's pregnancy. Thats about the time I quit watching, actually.

Ooh! I totally forgot about the one where no one's ready. I love that one!

I would have to say that Chandler is my favorite and I would totally marry him. I've always had a thing for him.

And about the Rachel having a baby thing, is everyone upset about the fact that a single woman had a baby by herself? What about the fact that Ross was a single dad? Did no one learn anything from Murphy Brown?

P.S. I love Arrested Development. I would marry Jason Bateman too.

I have a confession to make. As much as I'm not a fan of Friends anymore, I can't claim I'm all intellectual about my shows or "stories" as crazy folk in trailer parks might call them.

I love Sex and the City. I wish I was Carrie. I wish I had Charlotte and Miranda and Samantha around to go to lunch with and gossip.

*sniff* Thank you for listening.

My name is also Wendy and I too am incredibly geeky and cried while watching the Friends finale. cry

I LOVE Arrested Development. When the President gave that speech thing that one day, they replaced Arrested Development that Sunday with 24. There must be a lost episode somewhere, because I heard that in the season finale Oscar escapes from prison, hijacks the stair car and makes a run for Mexico.

The Braves haven't ruled out re-signing Michael Bourn.

Making placemats is a fun and easy creative challenge that is in fact practical afterward. My sons and I have produced these for birthday events in lieu of lootbags. Even now it can make them smile when we go to a friends house and they are using the placemats the boys built.

You will want entry to a laptop or computer that has a word processor put in (like Microsoft Word), a printer and a printing retailer that does lamination. If you come to a decision to use pictures from magazines or colouring pages, you will want a sheet of 11脳17 bristol board or card stock.

Initially thing you will need to do is decide on a theme. This is constantly a huge discussion with my young children Transformers adidas pro conference hi blu , robots, dinosaurs, Star Wars, or something else? After a concept is selected get on the net and start collecting photos. There are numerous on the web websites that have cost-free colouring pages you can use.

Other areas to search for very good pics for the placemats are previous journals and posters. In truth, the Disney Keep sometimes has promotions when you obtain a film from them in which they give you a set of lithographs from the film for totally free. My boys have the Wall-E film lithographs up in their area and they are shortly heading to substitute them with their most recent obsession Star Wars. So adidas honey stripes low uomo , I program on turning the lithographs into placemats.

Now that you have a collection of images there are two factors that can be done:

You can either have your little ones colour the pictures and then reduce out and paste the images (alongside with any magazine or poster clippings) on the 11×17 card stock.
Employing your skills with a laptop, insert the photos into a word processing software program and develop an 11×17 page with a set of photos relevant to the concept. Don’t overlook to involve your child’s identify someplace on the web page. Then print it out on card stock.

You must now have an 11×17 page with your child’s identify and the theme pics heshe likes. Take that web page to your nearest print shop. This is the crucial component consult the shop to laminate the web page with their thickest lamination with a 3-5mm border all around the edge and rounded corners. Insuring a thicker lamination, border and rounded edges will enable the placemat previous for a longer time and will stop any cuts because of to sharp edges.

Producing placemats is a enjoyment and simple inventive challenge that is essentially valuable afterward. My sons and I have manufactured these for birthday parties in lieu of lootbags
