BASSPROV and Scramble Workshops!
  Started at Wed Mar 1 13:57:08 2006
Last Modified at Wed Mar 1 15:22:02 2006 by jesster

Hey all,

This isn't the official announcement, yet, but Jesse wanted me to post this info as soon as possible. Joe Bill and Mark Sutton from BASSPROV will be in town March 24-25 to do workshops and performances. Here's the whole schedule and information.

Wednesday, March 22
7:00-9:00pm
University of Utah
Performing Arts Building Room 204
JoKyR and Jesster - Improv Fundamentals

This class is open ONLY to University of Utah students. It will be taught by JoKyR and Jesster. Nine students from this class will be selected as the cast of Friday's Scramble workshop and recital with Joe Bill. If you want to participate in the Scramble as a U of U student (i.e. for FREE), you must attend this workshop first! Please note that priority in casting will first be given to officers and members of The Slapstick Association (U of U club, it's FREE to join).

Friday, March 24
12:00 - 3:00pm
U of U PAB Room 101
Joe Bill - The Scramble (FREE)

The Scramble is a form that explores long form improvisation through the order in chaos. It employs a set of theatrical devices that are favored by Chicago Improv Heavy Weight Joe Bill, including but not limited to, living tableau opening with underscore, overlap scenes and edits, solo starts and bolts, swinging gates and chair pimps, and multi-dimensional madness...oh yes, and some very grounded scenework thrown in for good measure. This workshop is designed to be a 1 day training and rehearsal to facilitate a Utah Scramble cast performance on Friday night. This class is only open to students selected in Wednesday's JoKyR and Jesster workshop.

PAID WORKSHOPS
$30 for one, or $50 for two

Saturday, March 25
10:00am - 1:00pm
U of U PAB Room 101
MARK SUTTON - FINDING MORE

Get out of the rut. This workshop will help you find fun in the most mundane situations. It will show you ways to discover freedom in scenes that seem to go nowhere. You will look at all the relationships in the scene NOT just the one with your scene partner. You will learn ways to take chances and make connections that will enhance your characters, your scenes and your long-form.

Saturday, March 25
10:00am - 1:00pm
U of U PAB Room 204
JOE BILL - THE BAT

The Bat is a long form improvisation created by Joe Bill with 1990's super group, Georgia Pacific. It is The Scramble in the Dark. It is that from which the Scramble is born. It is performed in the dark. This workshop will work backwards to touch on Scramble techniques, and then quickly find students broken into groups and performing The Bat. All secrets will be revealed, all minds will be blown, and a new light will be shone on the value of verbal specificity.

Saturday, March 25
2:00 - 5:00pm
U of U PAB Room 101
MARK SUTTON - GET TO THE POINT

Have you ever created something great at the top of a scene and then lost it? Have you started with a wonderful character and then struggled to keep it wonderful during the scene? Have you found yourself "lost" as the scene progressed? Well...NO MORE!! This workshop will help you FOCUS. You'll learn how to better connect with your character, identify and heighten what you're about and see the scene through your own unique point of view. Stay stronger...longer, and make better scenes.

Saturday, March 25
2:00 - 5:00pm
U of U PAB Room 204
JOE BILL - THE SCRAMBLE (Limit 9 Actors)

The Scramble is a form that explores long form improvisation through the order in chaos. It employs a set of theatrical devices that are favored by Chicago Improv Heavy Weight Joe Bill, including but not limited to, living tableau opening with underscore, overlap scenes and edits, solo starts and bolts, swinging gates and chair pimps, and multi-dimensional madness...oh yes, and some very grounded scenework thrown in for good measure. This workshop is designed to be a 1 day training and rehearsal to facilitate a Utah Scramble casts performance on Saturday night.

Workshops cost $30 for one, or $50 for two, payable on the day of the workshop. Info on how to sign up will be coming soon.

Performances will be March 24-25 at 7:30pm at the University of Utah's Babcock Theatre (300 S 1400 E). Tickets are $10. The show will open with JoKyR and Jesster (with special guest monologist Mark Sutton), followed by Joe Bill's The Scramble, and the closing act will be world famous BASSPROV!

This is AN INCREDIBLY EXCITING OPPORTUNITY!!! Don't miss it!!!!!

Hey all,

We're coming into the final stretch before Donny and Earl invade Salt Lake! I hope everyone's as excited as I am!

This is just a quick reminder to anyone who wants to take classes but hasn't registered, yet: PLEASE REGISTER! Even if you're just a University student taking the free class on Wednesday, signing up in advance really helps us out.

Also, space is filling up for Saturday's Scramble workshop! Right now, there are only THREE slots left! This is really an amazing opportunity. At the 2005 Miami Improv Festival, this class cost $150, and sold out fast!

So, hope to see as many of you as possible this weekend! Thank you for your support.

happy

Update: There are now only TWO slots left for Saturday's Scramble workshop.

As a side note, I've heard some comments that some people are a little confused about how things are working with these classes. I'm not sure, though, what exactly everyone is confused about. Does anyone have any questions?

Sando: Chargers should trade for Bills OT Cyrus Kouandjio
  Reply #7 Posted at Thu Mar 23 02:32:21 2017
In this ESPN Insider piece, NFL Insider <a href="http://www.authentic49ersshop.com/shop-by-players-blaine-gabbert-jersey-c-1_8.html">Blaine Gabbert Youth Jersey</a> Mike Sando proposes eight potential trades as NFL teams head to the combine in Indianapolis this week.
One of them brings a potential starting left tackle to the Los Angeles Chargers, as Sando proposes they acquire OT Cyrus Kouandjio and a 2017 seventh-rounder from the Buffalo Bills for a 2017 fourth-rounder.
The Chargers of course need help up front, and Kouandjio was decent in five starts at left tackle last season for Buffalo with Cordy Glenn out. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn and offensive line coach Pat Meyer also are familiar with Kouandjio from their time in Buffalo.
Kouandjio did have hip surgery this offseason in<a href="http://www.authenticbillsstore.com/shop-by-players-greg-salas-jersey-c-1_23.html">Greg Salas Womens Jersey</a> January after falling at his home, putting in question his availability for offseason work.
Last yearís starting left tackle for the Chargers, King Dunlap, turns 32 years old in September, carries a $5.75 million base salary in 2017 and has had trouble staying on the field the last two seasons. Dunlap also was arrested in Nashville 10 days ago on suspicion for violating a protection order.
My take: Itís a low-risk move to add talent up front, particularly with very few offensive line prospects in this yearís draft projected to come into the NFL right away and play left tackle. At 23 years old, Kouandjio also is a young, developing prospect whoís still growing as a player.
Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times writes that the Chargers have to go beyond adding young players from this yearís draft to <a href="http://www.authenticbroncosshop.com/shop-by-players-dennis-smith-jersey-c-1_23.html">http://www.authenticbroncosshop.com/shop-by-players-dennis-smith-jersey-c-1_23.html</a> solve issues such as injury prevention, holding onto fourth-quarter leads and just plain bad luck.
My take: Heís right. Lynn has to affect a change of culture to fix some of the things that have been plaguing this franchise for the last two years. But adding more talent will assist in that effort.
Matt Hoffman of NBC San Diego writes that legendary Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson was an honorary starter for the Daytona 500 over the weekend.
My take: Thatís a cool honor bestowed on LT, who will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer.
Mark Whicker of the Orange County Register talks with Chargers general manager Tom Telesco, who had this to say about the Chargers moving forward: ďItís tough to know where we are. I donít know. We have a good core. But we <a href="http://www.authenticsaintsshop.com/shop-by-players-james-laurinaitis-jersey-c-1_20.html">http://www.authenticsaintsshop.com/shop-by-players-james-laurinaitis-jersey-c-1_20.html</a> turned it over way too much. We did get more turnovers defensively, but we have to rush the passer better. Go through all the tough losses. Thereís a different reason for each one.Ē
My take:†With a league-high 35 turnovers last season, ball security will be a point of emphasis this offseason.
