Is Improv Your Job?
  Started at Mon Jun 16 00:57:59 2003
I'm sure almost all of you, if you had a choice, would do improv for a living. From my experience (my husband being the experience) improv doesn't pay the bills.

So, out of curiosity, where does everyone work? What's your "REAL JOB?" Or where have you worked in the past?

I'll start:
I'm the Store Manager at Spencer Gifts!tongue Wahoo!

I used to work at Blood Sucking OfficeMax for 6 years. Boo....Hissssssss ::throwing rotten tomatoes::

Three things I love...Whores!, non-alcoholic beverages, and Jake Plumley!

I recently started a new job. I used to work at Spencer Gifts with Nella!! WAHOO!!

Now, (for $ reasons) I work at an aparment complex known as Orchard Cove. Where Nella used to live. Kind of crazy.

Soon I hope to be working at Marriott with Jake P. and Seth B.

Well, There you go. Adam said it for me.
Although I also consider doing a show at Hale Centre Theatre a job (kind of) because it pays pretty good for performing, and I'm sure there are people who can live on what I make there (I, of course can't, but I'm sure someone could). grin

I know that I do not count, but the fact that I spend my weekends at the Clearfield QW, probably makes people think that I do not have a life. In fact, after school (for a work study program to pay for school) I work with the regional president of the school as a marketing secretary. Anyhow, there it is happy

Ok, let's see which of my jobs in the cooleset... damn none of them. Crap now everyone will know of my futileness. Oh well.

Yes I do consider Improv on of my many jobs because I do it so much. Plus it feels cool when I say "sorry I have to go to work" and I'm really going to hang out and laugh with my friends. He he. grin

Though I do have other jobs to satisfy my cravings er... income.

I work at Chili's in Midvale. It's right there on Fort Union Blvd. I really like the people, their cool. Plus I eat free food alot. Also, they run an illegal sweatshop in the basement, I can get anyone a pair of nikes for $ 20. Think about it... ok now stop! So the goverment can't trace your thoughts. Anyway, I work there during the day for a few hours.

Simmons Media Group owns this radio station called Star 102.7... stupid jingle. I produce their morning show. Fisher & Laura in the morning/ featuring Producer Andrew and his plethoric use of the words damn and hell. That is fun, but my sleeping hours are all screwy cause I get up at 3:30 in the morning. Well, lately more like 4:45. mouthshut oops.

I have this agent that sometimes sends me out on auditions and sometimes people mistake me for being talented and I get a job. Man. What were they thinking? grin

Let's see... is that everthing? Oh heah. I think I am still on Bob Bedore's payroll as his minion. That job sucks. Except when he has me impregnate some rags with oil and give him a rub down. That' ok.

So now you know what I do, but it's what you do with this information that counts.

SO Fly. Fly I tell you, but remember, only for the virtuous!

Andrew.

Dude, you just killed a goat...and he had a family.

No freakin' way!! I used to work at Spencer's! I'm assuming you work at the Ogden one...I used to work at the Midvale one. That job was fun! I used to dress up in one of those nun costumes for Halloween, then go stock body butter and motion lotion.

Anyway, that was years ago. Now, I'm an assistant editor for a company that publishes four affluent lifestyle* magazines.

Actually, Dawnella works at the Layton Hills store.
I used to work with her. It was weird. She was my boss at my job, then Jake (dawns husband) was my boss at quick wits!!

Too much Plumley-Matthews to deal with!!

As stated before, I work at Marriott Vacation Club International as a Vacation Planning Counsler. I just make reservations for people who own a timeshare through marriott. It's a cool job though. I tend to job hop so I am not sure how long I will be here, but I would like to be here for at least another 8 mo.

isn't it pretty cool that almost all of us have another type of contact relationship besides improv. I.e work or relations. Kinda like six levels to Kevin bacon.

i bet if someone were so inclined they could link just about all of the Utah improvisors through types of contacts other than sharing a stage. how many of us have dated other improvisors for example. and bob and Laura are married. laura and Drew are related. Laura and Andrew work together. andrew and jon live together. And that was just off of the top of my head.

that's kinda neat.

I think the only link I have to other inmprovisors is that Joe Rogan and I both Play everquest when we can. Of Course, I haven't been able to in about a year, so I'm not usre that counts as a link.

I am going to give it a shot.

The only rule is the relationship has to be current

Adam Rossander works with
Joe Degennarro who lives with
Paul Strazz who also lives with
Angie Machenheimer who is getting married to
Jeremy Van Leer who works with
Kyle Benson who is Married to
Kelly Benson who.......... Is really cool

Jake Plumley works with
Seth Barney who is in a play with
Sandy Jenson who is Married to
Eric Jenson who is........ also really cool.

Jon Hamilton lives with
Andrew jenson who works with
Laura Badore who is the sister of
Drew Keddington who is the Brother in Law of
Bob Badore who works with
Joel Hilton.......... who I am sure is just as cool as the aforementioned people.

I bet we could connect these strings.

Oh Dawn, how I only wish that QW would pay the bills. That would be great. As you know, my new profession is mommy. I really want to start chick witting again soon. We'll see if your amazing husband and my fine feathered one need me there again. I miss hanging w/ all the folks.

P.S. I would just like to mention to everyone that Dawn is the nicest, most awesome person that I know. happy

I grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same schools as Drew Keddington and Andrew Jensen. Andrew used to play basketball with my brothers and Drew always won Reflections and I was jealous.
