anyone wanna do long form improv on the first thursday in september?

maybe we can have a "jam"? kickball style, like pick teams with captains and do long forms, and maybe even have a couple of teams play...

my bro is getting married, and i'm coming into town. i'll have wedding stuff on friday and saturday, but i'm trying to keep thursday free of everything but utah improv.

anyone down?

at least a scene work jam? i may totally cop out if i get the chance to do a 3 man harold somewhere, but still...

long form in september?

I'm down. I can just open up my theatre and we can jam all day, or if you have a better or closer place let me know and i'll be there with bells on. I want to start learning more longform, but anything you want to do is cool.

Are we talking informal? Or do we get a crowd for this?
I'm definitly up for another extravaganza. We could hang out and practice in the day and then put on a show at night.

As far as performers, If you'd like to perform as a long form group, duo, trio, or solo act, please send jesse or me an email or private message.

So far, I already want to have at least 4 long forms... including the skirts, the saint (with special guest), kysoff, and clearfield (if they are all interested). jesse, jake, and i will help decide the running order, but we need to know who's interested...

maybe we can turn this into a mini longform marathon with like 6 teams!

It's also up in the air if standup will be involved yet. This one might be a long form showcase, with some freeze tag stuff games in between some of the sets.

Much more to come. (i love when a little idea becomes an event... yay for utah!)

We are accepting Sumissions for performances, starting NOW!

If you are interested in getting a team together for a 25 minute performance slot, send a private message to me or jesse.

The doors are open to EVERYONE! But hurry, I arbitrarily picked Friday, August 15th as the deadline.

With Jake out of town... If it's easier to use the Quick Wits SLC theatre it is open for you.

Just thought I'd make the offer.

Thanks Bob! Actually, I want to use Clearfield for a couple reasons, one being a personal thank you to Jake.

Also, The Clearfielders have expressed a pretty strong interest in long form over the last few months and i would like to have them host another long form show in case they want their audiences there to promote interest.

alright, i wanted to wait until after the girls vs boys show to bring this back up...

the deadline to submit a long form team is this friday, august 15th. so if anyone else is interested, please let me know.

we already have 5 teams plus a solo act and a duo act set up. so that's 7 teams submitted.

the show will already be pretty incestual, seeing how a lot of the players will be on multiple teams. but i think the format will be a marathon. so each team will get 25 minutes (the solos and duos may get less time), and we'll prolly just go back to back to back... with one 10 minute intermission toward the middle.

this should be pretty fun. it's definitely a show for those of us who like long form to get together to play. it's also a chance to show some different sides to long form (which is goal #2).

much more on this soon...

We will have posters up in our lobby this weekend. We will have flyers too. We also have been pimping this show for the last few weeks, so it should be a good turn out.

I'd choose the improv. I saw Cold when they opened for Weezer, and they were booed off the stage. Long story short, they sucked ass. wink

i want this to be a chance for people in utah to do long form in a very friendly environment, as well as people to see hwat kinds of long forms are out there and are being done in utah (and beyond).

this'll be a near-3 hour show, and while the audience may stay or leave, there are over 15 people doing the shows, so at least there will be an audience of improvisers.

i'd really like to see what people on this board think of the different types of long forms we'll be doing....

some of it will be groupy
some of it will be story-like
some of it will be fast
some of it will be slow
some of it will be crazy
some of it will be serious

LOTS of scenes! i guarantee at least 30 scenes!

reviews and thoughts would be great to read here. come see what else is out there besides game improv, and see why there are people that are insane about long form. i'm so excited to see and be a part of utah long form.
